Struggling to find something cool and exciting to do this NYE? Don’t worry your pretty little head, OTL’s got you covered! We’ve compiled a complete list of the best NYE events happening in Melbourne for 2015, so have a good read and take your pick.

NEW YEARS EVE

NYE at Arbory Bar

Arbory has been the clear winner in 2015 with their espresso martini’s on tap to their Arbory Afloat, so no question their NYE is going to be brilliant. All night they’re serving drool-worthy roving canapés, a collection of food stations and Euro Yum Cha Trolley favourites plus your entry includes beer, cider and wine on tap. With tunes by Chico G, CC Disco, Myles Mac & Midnight Tenderness spinning until 3am, a perfect view of the fireworks and a pretty easy location to get to, we love Arbory this NYE.

NYE at Academy Kitchen and Bar

If you’re after something a tad more relaxed, the Academy Kitchen and Bar has got your New Year’s Eve plans sorted. With a five course tasting menu starting at $65 and the option to add matching wines and cocktails for an additional $55, you and a group of friends can drink well into the new year, all the while munching on some fabulous food (the Rangers Valley rump cap pie sounds to die!) It’s a super lovely couple that run this joint, so no doubt they’ll offer you a warm welcome to 2016!

NYE at Ms Collins

This New Year’s Eve, Ms Collins has promised to take you on a NYE journey spectacular. Some of our fav Chef Hat awarded chefs Paul Wilson and Daniel Wilson will be serving up some yummy street food with pulled pork sliders, chicken kaarage and beef brisket empanadas (omg). Super sexy House DJ Miguel Migs is spinning tunes and don’t worry about running out to catch the fireworks, (don’t ask us how but…) there is an internal fireworks display at midnight. For those of you who like to mix it up a little, you can get your dance on with Khanh Ong and Chessie Keebaugh in the RnB Electric Ballroom. Get in at 8pm and party all the way through until five in the morning. And guess what, we have a double pass for you to WIN to join in the saucy fun at Ms Collins.

NYE at Munich Brauhaus

If you spend the end of 2015 at Munich Brauhaus, be prepared to bring the ‘haus’ down with the party they have planned! Eating is NOT cheating so either, enjoy the delicious German à la carte menu, or for groups of 10 or more, get stuck into the mouth-watering set menu on offer. And, rumour has it these riverside fireworks are some of the best in South Wharf fireworks at midnight

NYE BBQ on the Lawn at College Lawn

If you want something pretty chilled bring on 2016 with a Aussie BBQ held at College Lawn. Tickets are only $60pp and entitle you to beer, wine and sparkling, as well as an all you can eat BBQ spit if you come down between 5 and 8pm. Then from 8pm to 1am, you can get down to some of the best party songs of 2015.

NYE at Riverland
Ok so we’re still recovering from Juniperlooza last month but we can admit it was a specatacular day and we are sure the team will once again come through with the goods this NYE. You’ll be snacking on prawn taco’s and pulled pork sliders, listening to DJ duo Vincent Montanas as well as Melbourne DJs Eddie Mac and Dan Nadi and of course enjoying a beer/wine/sparkling package. If it’s anything like the other events they’ve put on this year, you’ll have a flipping ball.

NYE Old School Cool at Terminus Hotel

Okay, so who doesn’t love a bit of 90’s flashback (double denim anyone?), which is why when we heard about this event, we simply just couldn’t resist. With tickets at $120 per person, you can enjoy old school RnB hits at the Terminus Hotel all night long, along with a 4 hour retro inspired food n’ beverage package, all the while dressed as your fave Spice Girl or even the Fresh Prince. Also, the DJ has promised to drop song requests throughout the night, so you’re guaranteed a boogie to your favourite RnB classic.

NYE at Docklands

Docklands is where you will find the fams this NYE. Enjoy a summer night picnic in the park while you smash through some gelato at New Quay Promenade and then decide how you’re going to enjoy the midnight fireworks. This year the Melbourne Star will be open on NYE, so you can secure a breathtaking view by booking a private cabin on the wheel to watch the sky light up with Melbourne’s iconic fireworks display. How cool would that be? Or head down to the historic tall ship Alma Doepel and lock in a front seat view of the fireworks, whilst enjoying a BBQ, bev and supporting the Alma Doepel Supporters Club in raising money to fund the restoration project currently underway to restore the ship. Arr we say yes to bringing in the new year in the Docklands.

NEW YEARS DAY

New Years Day parties are the new New Years Eve (way too many new’s). Here’s our picks of the best 2!

Carousel NYD: A day at the Hamptons

The guys running this event are mates of On The List so we can personally tell you it’s set to be a cracking day! With a huge international headliner alongside local favourites, as well as champers, super cabanas and VIP settings, Carousel NYD sounds like the way to follow up a great NYE evening. This event promises the best of uplifting house and live entertainment in the most lavish of surroundings, so there’s no doubt you’ll be starting off the new year in the most glamorous, Hamptons-styled way.

Carl Cox NYD at Alumbra

From 4pm, Carl Cox will perform a 3 hour set hosted by Alumbra, with features from special guests such as Doorly, Eric Powell, Simon Digby, Steve Bleas and many others. Enjoy these tunes, along with a sunset BBQ and drinks overlooking Victoria Harbour. Tickets are $115.50 per person, so get on it!

With all of these options to choose from, there’s no excuse for you not to head into 2016 with complete and utter style. You can thank us later, although, we’ll accept no responsibility for the post-party hangover!

NGV Friday Nights

And for something a little more cultural, our friends at NGV are continuing their Friday Nights with The Apartments bringing in the new year. Plus you have access to check out the Andy Warhole and Ai Weiwe exhibition which is proving to be a favourite in Melbourne already! And happy new year, we have a double pass for you to WIN.
