Back for their 5th year, the Time Out Melbourne Food Awards took over Pontoon Stokehouse last night to celebrate the people and places who ensure our city is well-fed.

Melbourne’s best restaurants and chefs competed to nab one of nine awards up for grabs. A few changes were made including Best Late Night Snack Vendor being dropped in favour of Mastercard presents People’s Choice: Best Fast Food and Mastercard presents People’s Choice: Best Bakery. The People’s Choice: Best Restaurant has also been renamed as Beer the Beautiful Truth presents People’s Choice: Best Restaurant.

Embla, the winner of last year’s Restaurant of the Year, returned to defend their title of Restaurant of the Year. There were Melbourne favourites who made it on the list again this year including Attica,
Cutler & Co, Grossi Florentino and more!

Sadly we couldn’t enjoy the full hospitality of Pontoon Stokehouse because it was windy enough to blow us all the way to Port Melbourne but inside the beats, brews and feasts kept us buzzing during the ceremony.

We were introduced to Lanson Champagne, light and perfect to sip on with the gals on a spring day. Beer the Beautiful Truth ensured we had ales matched with delicious bites like sea bream tacos, hickory smoked brisket pastrami brioche and some of the zingiest fish and chips we’ve ever tasted.

Here are the restaurants and venues that need to make it onto your list!
