Whether you’re fabulously single or happily coupled up, we’ve picked out the funnest V-day weekend events for you.
Cinema at the ‘G
If there was ever a time to upgrade from the usual Netflix and cuddle, it’d be on Valentine’s Day. Come early and have dinner and a drink (or two!) before getting ready to kick back, relax, and watch a movie with your favorite human being or hot new Tinder date. Don’t forget to bring your softest blanket, and your fluffiest pillows for the most cuddly experience on the hallowed turf. If that’s not enough of a reason to go, The Bank of Melbourne is sharing the love by donating proceeds to the Bank of Melbourne Neighborhood Fund, which supports local charities and programs in Victoria.
Cupid Undie Run
Another option this Valentine’s Day is to strip down to your knickers for a good cause. You’ll get a rush of endorphins from completing a kilometer-ish run, a shot of adrenaline from the thrill of semi-streaking through Melbourne, and a feel good high from knowing you’re supporting the Children’s Tumor Foundation in the fight against NF. If that’s not enough for you, there’s also going to be a wicked post-race party. And a new study shows that 1% of people meet their partners while competing in a race. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find your Valentine at the Meet and Greet, prior to the race. After all, Cupid will be there!
Wingwoman Lunch
If your current relationship status on Facebook is single, divorced, and fun, then this is the event for you! It’s a more civilized affair, with a scrumptious 2-course meal with choices like Chicken Ribs with Lemon and Ras el Hanout and Gourmet Turkish Pizza (they’ve even got a vegetarian option!). Throw in a glass of bubbly and you’re ready to meet your future wingwoman.
Picnic at Ludlow
Channel your inner Carl and Ellie Fredrikson (you know, that adorable couple from UP that had us all crying in their super cute romantic montage?) and celebrate the day of love with a picnic –without the hassle. Ludlow is offering a grazing style picnic lunch to share with your special someone. Menu standouts include country ham pate, warm baguette, gherkins, & dijon mustard and tart of pumpkin, goats cheese, & piccalilli. But don’t forget to leave space for their amazing soaked strawberry sponge, summer berries, & whipped vanilla mascarpone. Aside from all that food, Ludlow is also throwing in a jug of PIMM’S. Et violà! Valentine’s Day lunch sorted!
Be Mine Valentine’s Eve Eve Party
This one is for all our single and ready to mingle On The Listers. Get ready to party with your closest and funnest friends as you dance to the hottest R&B beats dropped by resident DJs Bobby Love, Khanh, ESG, Goldi and more! And with a little luck you may just find Mr. Right or Mr. Just for Tonight (or Miss!) on the dance floor of Ms. Collins. If you’re feeling up to splurge, our insiders tell us that if you book a booth you may even score a personally engraved Belvedere Silver Sabre. It’ll be the best way to kick off your V-day weekend!
St. Kilda Festival
If you’re more of a Spotify over Netflix kind of gal, guy, or couple then you’ve got to check out the St. Kilda Festival. Boasting 10 different stages and the coolest bands, DJs and artists, you’re bound to find the perfect jam. And we’ve heard Client Liaison, is a hot act to check out. Music not your thing? Not to worry, there’s loads more to do! Foodies can grab some Pidappipo gelato, while sports buffs can join in on the beach volleyball fun or give disco yoga a shot. For some cheeky good fun, be sure to cheer on (or participate!) in the largest high heels race in the world! Be sure to keep an eye out for our St Kilda Fest article! We’ll have all the deets there.
Midsumma Valentine’s Day Wrap Party
Capping off the annual Midsumma Festival (and our list) is the Valentine’s Day Wrap Party. Let’s show our support for every kind of love on this very special day. The event is open to everyone. It doesn’t matter if you’re fabulously single, or happily coupled up (or even somewhere in the middle!). So come on down to the Testing Grounds and join in on the fun!
