Every year, Melbournians get their stomachs ready for the biggest foodie event of the year. With the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival running for 10 days, and hosting over 250 events prepare to eat (and drink!) your weight. We’ve handpicked the top 5 coolest foodie and cheesy events, so you’re sure to have a great time!

The Baconing
If you love bacon, then this is the event for you! Think 3 glorious courses of bacon. Personally, we can’t wait to try their maple bacon doughnuts with pork crackling. The only thing more exciting than that would be their ‘Big Mama Thortons’ bourbon based cocktail infused with (what else?) bacon.
Golden Triangle
Try out some dishes and drinks from the golden trifecta, Hanoi Hannah, Tokyo Tina and Saigon Sally. Kick off lunch at Hanoi Hannah with an entrée and welcome cocktail, then head over to Tokyo Tina for a 2-course meal and Japanese inspired bevvie. Finally, enjoy dessert and a paired drink at Saigon Sally. It’s a super limited event, so get your tickets to this event quick! We chatted to the amazing head chef of the tastiest trio of restaurants, Adrian Li make sure you watch him tell us about this delicious event.
Pizza Festival
The marriage of pizza and wine can rival the romance of Bradgelina. Think moreish pizzas from Gradi, the best pizza makers in the world (seriously, they’ve beat the Italians) paired with fine wine from Oakridge. Oakridge goes one step further by bringing you into an immersive experience where you can get your hands (or rather your feet) dirty as you crush grapes, and walk through a winery. But if you’re anything like us, we’ll stick to sampling the final product.
Urban Dairy Hub
There are people who love cheese, then there are people who really love cheese. You can imagine which category most Melbournians fall into. This year, the MFWF will be hosting the Urban Dairy celebrating every dairy product imaginable from ice creams to cheese. It’s looking to be a legendairy 10 days.
Fromage a Trois
More cheese you say? Well, get ready for the cheese festival to end all other cheesy melty festivals. Set in the picturesque Werribee mansion, amble around and sample delicious cheese from over 60 stalls with a cider in hand. Cheese overload? There’s also a range of food trucks like Fancy Hank’s BBQ and Dos Diablos. But we’re most excited for the Build-Your-Own-Picnic option. Eager beaver? You can pre-order a picnic hamper.
Out of Town

Other standout events include World’s Longest Lunch, A Gin Experience in a Beach Box, MasterClass Hands On, and The Buttermilk Chicken Wars. Much to our disappointment, they’ve sold out, but keep an eye out for 2017’s MFWF and get your tickets early the next time around!
