Melbourne’s most pup-ular festival, Barkly Barks Dog Festival, is back after last year’s barking success. On for one day only, Barkly Square is very fittingly playing host to mankind’s best friend with a pug race, doggie matchmaking and a dog parade.
This year, the festival is introducing the pug race with pugs of all kinds and sizes racing (or panting) to the finish line. Come along and see who’ll win the Powered Pug award!
The popular dog parade is also making a return with the most hilarious categories! There’s an award for dog and owner look-alikes, ‘Face Only a Mother Could Love’ and Best Hair. There are also more typical categories like Best Trick, Most Obedient and Best in Show. Don’t forget to cheer on your favourite pooch for Crowd Favourite! Other categories include Most Stylish, Cutest Pooch and Best Costume.
With David Pidd hosting alongside TV presenter, Lara Shannon, it’ll be a fur-tastic affair. Plus, Lara will be filming for her new show ‘Pooches at Play’. If Fido’s puppy eyes still aren’t working (are you even human?!), there’s also Tinder for dogs. Yup, doggie matchmaking! Will your fur buddy find his Tinderella or her Tinderfella?
After a jam-packed day, grab a bite to eat from one of Barkly Square’s food and beverage retailers. Canine Wellness Kitchen Food Truck will also be setting shop for a bone or a treat for your fur baby. Bone Appetit!
