Melbourne Latin Festival

The annual Melbourne Latin Festival is bringing the world’s best dancers to town to celebrate its 10th year with a fiesta of performances, lessons and parties.

More than 150 dancers will spin into Williamstown from 30 March to 1 April 2018 to showcase the colours, sounds and artistry of Latin America. Not only can attendees see international and local artists in action, but they can also party with them nightly with 12 DJs across 3 nights, and a live Latin band Saturday evening. Star performers and instructors will include:
• World salsa champions Ricardo Vega and Karen Forcano – Chile/Argentina;
• Dominican-style bachata specialists Alex Morel and Desiree Godsell – U.S.; and
• Mariano Neris and Bella Malekian who have a love for both Mambo and each other – US/Sweden.

Melbourne Latin Festival has grown each year since it began in 2008 and is introducing bonus beginner Latin dance lessons in 2018 so audiences can literally warm up before enjoying an evening show*. The event is moving to the recently renovated Williamstown Town Hall so lovers of all dance types can enjoy world-class performances in a grand theatre.

Organiser and event founder Natalie Montano says anyone interested in Latin dancing from beginners through to professionals can work up a sweat at the three-day event – sequins are optional.

“With past classes including ‘Sensual Bachata’ and ‘Afro-Fusion’, the Festival is always so much fun and has a great social scene behind it. Now’s your chance to discover the difference between tango, bachata, samba and zouk in a positive and supportive setting,” Ms Montano said.
