Day of the Dead is a Mexican tradition honouring the lives of the deceased through festivals and lively celebrations. ‘Dia de Muertos’ or Day of the Dead is recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. The rich cultural expressions around this solemn but festive occasion are so varied and, in most cases, real pieces of art. This year’s celebration will showcase dance, music, family activities, food, an art installation by Mexican artist Esther Guinzberg, and a participatory collaborative public artwork.
