International myth-maker Ian Mackenzie (Occupy Love, Sacred Economics) is in Melbourne to share his amazing new film about the rising feminine!
Featuring animated comics by a team of 21 females, ‘Amplify Her’ follows the lives of electronic dance music artists Blondrton, Applecat and Lux Moderna as they overcome isolation, illness and gender bias.
This poetic film asks the questions ‘what is unique about the feminine expression, and how can humanity benefit when it flourishes?’.
The Premiere screening in Collingwood on February 2nd will be followed by an electric panel of local female performers and producers, and an after-party featuring electronic artists, HÄANA from LA and Chiara Kickdrum from Melbourne.
The night will be opened by Melbourne-based spoken-word artist, Fleassy Malay who is known to move a crowd with her raw authenticity, and will also feature Alejandra Nicolazzo, founder and facilitator of Dancing Eros, for a movement workshop before the after-party kicks off.
The ‘purple carpet’ screenings of the film will take place at Second Story Studios (with afterparty) on the 2nd of February, and Cinema Nova on the 23rd of February and followed by Q&A sessions with Ian and special guests.
On the surface, Amplify her is a story about women in the electronic music industry, but the film’s deeper message is the resurgence of “the feminine” in Western culture.
