Your mum’s probably used to having her Mother’s Day lunch with a few cheeky monkeys, so why not include the rest of the zoo at your table this year? Melbourne Zoo is inviting mama bear and her cubs to enjoy a decadent lunch this year at a truly unique venue.

Melbourne Zoo has a range of spectacular function space that hosts weddings and bridal showers, corporate functions and private events. People have had cocktails in the Butterfly House, canape’s on the Giraffe Deck or even a gala dinner in the Rainforest room.

This year, The Leopard Lounge is hosting Mother’s Day.

You’ll be welcomed with some bubbles (is there any other way to kick start the day with mum?!), Jazz and canape’s that will be flowing before a sit down two-course lunch.

If you’re like us, your mouth will water at the thought of the 16 hour braised lamb shoulder on the menu, or you can tuck into the delicious pumpkin gnocchi you can see below. But make sure you save room for the Cardamom pavlova with pear and cinnamon compote. What a feast!

Melbourne Zoo, Mother's Day Lunch, On The List Melbourne

The energy in the room will be buzzing with shared tables creating a positive and inclusive environment. What a fun and unique experience to enjoy with your mum this year, it’s for sure made it to the top of our Mother’s Day list.

 Melbourne Zoo TABLE

While you’re at the Zoo why not check out our Top 5 Melbourne Zoo attractions.

1. Close-up Animal Encounters
For a few moments, you can have an up-close encounter (and maybe even a selfie) with the cheeky lemurs, beautiful giraffes or our iconic kangaroos.

2. Tiger ‘Behind the Scenes’
Did you know that Sumatran Tigers are critically endangered? This ‘behind the scenes’ experience gains you access to an area usually reserved for zookeepers to learn more about this special creature.

3. Orang-utan Sanctuary
You can visit these amazingly large mammals in their treetop homes in a tailor made exhibit that allows you to watch them from up high.

4. Butterfly house
The beautiful butterflies live in a cosy 28-degree tropical glasshouse which you can enter and be immersed by these enchanting and spectacularly coloured little creatures.

5. Lemur Island
Enter Lemur Island through a rainforest tunnel, head along a boardwalk to a tree house and get closer than you’ve ever been able to, so you can see what it’s like living as a Ring-tailed Lemur.

If high tea is more your Mother’s Day flavour, you can hang out at the Meerkat Bistro at Werribee Open Range Zoo.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mama’s in Melbourne!
